Habits are actions that we perform automatically, regularly and mostly unconsciously, that are acquired through repetition and learning. Because habits are constant and almost involuntary they are very powerful and have a strong impact on your life. We must take the habits as vehicles that lead us to a positive and successful personal development.
There are two types of habits that impact your mental and physical health: positive and negative. Have you ever felt like you are carrying some weight that doesn't let you shine and you cannot identify what it is? There they are, hidden in your routine, in your daily life the negative habits: physical, emotional and mental. Negative habits are obstacles to a lighter, happier and healthier life.
Each negative habit creates neuronal connections that are enshrined in your brain. For your brain it is gratifying and satisfying every time this habit is repeated, making it very difficult to stop it. Although bad habits cannot be eliminated because they created neuronal connections, neuropsychologist say that the brain is flexible and moldable. Its plasticity allows us to continually reconfigure our brain maps. For this it is necessary to generate new neurons and new neuronal connections. A change of attitude, motivation, exercise, meditation, a healthy diet and mainly learning new things promotes neurogenesis, the birth of new neurons.
Therefore, to eliminate a bad habit, it is necessary:
1. To change your attitude
2. Acquire a new positive habit that replaces the negative habit
3. A lot of consistency so that this new positive habit becomes an action that you perform automatically and almost involuntary.
Positive habits powerfully impact your life and have many advantages in the short, medium and long term; Improve your self-esteem, Improve your social relationships, Give you mental clarity, Improve your ability to make decisions and your attitude towards the future will be much more positive.
Acquiring a new positive habit is very simple because the only thing it requires is that you make the decision to do it, the difficult part is to be constant and repeat it until it becomes a behavior that you do without having to think about it. There are theories that if you manage to repeat an action for 21 days, it will remain permanently in your brain.
Today, I invite you to eliminate all the physical, emotional and mental obstacles that are stopping your development, generating new positive habits that lead you to be THE HAPPIEST VERSION OF YOURSELF.
